How to stop a trespasser riding on your land 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 3
I figured you guys get a kick out of this one. Was on some other site the other day and a guy posted a complaint about guys riding on his land illegally.

Man, I could think of so many ways to stop this from happening, but no one seemed interested.

We had a guy running some lines in our lake a few years back. Idiot would cut our fences, drive his three wheeler on our land, set up a bunch of trout lines and come back the next night.

We had a few cows that got tangled in them and decided enough was enough. So I camped out one evening and he came in the early morning just as the sun was coming up. I saw him get off his bike and walk toward the lake. I propped the 270 up and blasted the front tire of his 3-wheeler out. He looked like a coyote running through the field. Come to find out the guy was hitting several other ponds and lakes in our area, but he got caught. He had ran some trout lines in a barnlot pond, well lets just say he met Zim the Bull. Neighbor showed up and the guy was barely alive, had to be flown to hospital in St. Louis.

He never came back for his trout lines, I was disappointed. LOL!

Thanks

A neighbor of mine had some trouble with illegal riders a few years back. He lets me and my daughter ride and hunt groundhogs on his property, and evidently some kids had seen us riding
and decide they could as well.

The first time he caught them he just warned them to stay away. Didn't work.

The second time he called the Sheriff. Didn't work, they out ran the Deputy by going thru the corn fields (tearing up a newly planted crop in the effort), and the sheriff tried to bust me once, as well.

The third time he called me and another neighbor and we went armed and looking our meanest. Still didn't work, they just changed the times and days when they rode. They started riding at night, after midnight, during the summer, when we were all in bed.

His son works in a machine shop. He brought home about two dozen old worn out files that had the handles removed and the shank end sharpened to a needle point. They buried them in several spots in the trails the kids were using to access his land (Trails that we never rode on), points up, with about 1.5-2 inches of the files sticking out of the ground. After each of them got two or three flats, they got the message and stayed away.

that would work, until they fall on it and sue. thats the crazy thing about crap these days, you try to protect your property and put measure in to do that. Someone gets hurt, sues you, and now you living with your second x-wife in the garage. Oh well, as long as your x has a hot sister I probably wouldn't complain.

thanks

I think they were safe. These kids were hotrods, screaming around on Blasters and Banshees.
I feel sure by the time they realized they had a flat they were hundreds of yards away from the files.

yeah, probably so. I can't stand people who disrespect other people's property like that. You know if it was my land and someone asked if they could ride my trails. I wouldn't probably have a problem with it as long as they accepted the responsibility and consequences when they screw/tear something up.

Thanks

Well, when I get things set up around here, I'm going to find a paint-ball gun. I'm going to buy the one with the best velocity I can find/afford. Then when I find these dirt bags on our trails, I'm going to paint them. If they have an issue with that, I'll have my 10mm, just in case. I'll probably get a digital video camera too. If I find them destroying any fields, I'll video them before or while, I paint them. Makes them easier to identify, and most of them locally don't wear helmets. So they can't say, it wasn't me.

I'll make sure charges are pressed against anyone destroying fields. Even if I have to take the time off work to attend the court dates.

Later,

Steve
