WFO Harescramble series 7 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 3
This thread is intended to be for chat related to the WFO harescramble series www.wfopromotions.com

It's a 10-race series, with two throwouts. .. I've already missed rounds 1 and 3, but am going to try my best to participate in the remaining 8. .. hoping to do well enough to win something by the end of the year in the B class.

Next race: this Sunday, June 8 near Colona, IL. . .. see website for details.

Lesrace82, are you planning to make it to this one?

Yeah, Im planning on being there. Got a new quad I have to get ready, and tons of Side work that needs to be done as well. Need to find a way to make my days longer.

I guess Colona is supposed to be alot like the Hooppole race, but not as long of straights.

That sounds great! I really liked the Hoopole race other than the straights. .. unless I'm jetted just right, I'm not willing to let the R stay pinned. .. thus I got passed a few times in the straights. .. by guys I just passed in the woods, then had to pass again in the woods afterwards. ..

At Hoopole, my jetting really got thrown off since my base gasket let loose on the motor. .. HUGE air leak!

crops should be in now, so I can't imagine being routed through the fields anymore . .. since it's so close to Hoopole, I'm thinking the soil may be sandy again. . . that was nice for keeping the mud at bay.

BTW.. did you get another YFZ or are you switching brands? I often hear that the ergonomics of the YFZ really are not good for bigger guys. .. I rode one once, and had to agree. . . though it seemed like it would have improved imensely from just raising the steering stem. ..

Yeah I ended up with another YFZ. I have a set of Rox risers for the bars that go vertical versus straight back, and I Made my own mounts for the AC nerfs I have that dropped the peg and moved it back, Fits me great. Yeah my jetting was off for hoopole too, everybody that I passed in the woods would just walk around me, but I wasnt really willing to hose the motor to keep it pinned either.

stick with what works for you, eh? Sounds good. .. I do the same. .. in 1992, my older brother bought a used '86 250R (which he still owns .. . was the red one at the Hoopole race) and I fell in love with that quad. . . had to get one myself. .. and it works so well I have no need/want to get a 4-poke.

Anyway, I e-mailed the promoter for Sunday's race, and this was his response:

The gates open at 7. The terrain is flat river bottoms, with some logs, lots of new stuff, and a little mud. In the past this is the muddiest race of every year. This year all the bad mud holes that you may hear about are taken out. This should be a great race for anyone who likes new trails. The new stuff will be slow going for about 2 laps, then it will open up and get faster. Remember we race rain or shine. Hope to see you there. Thanks Stan
