ATV accidents 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 3
I know many of you have probably lost several friends due to ATV accidents, but I have a story to share for you. I knew a guy that was killed on an ATV a while back, and it caught a lot of publicity in the local paper. I was a little pissed by the news article because they didn't mention the guy was drunk. The made it look like ATV's were dangerous and cause injury.

How many of you have lost a friend to an accident, and what was the cause?

Do we really have that many atv accidents that are really accidents, or are they carelessness on the driver's part.

Not trying to offend anyone on this post, I am just interested in the stats.

That data is going to be pretty hard to come across.

Most of it is gathered with an agenda and skewed one way or another. ..

I've luckily never lost anyone close to me from ATVing and I'd like for it to stay that way (knock on wood).

It would be hard to judge. But I think the statistics would be interesting, especially to the non-atv groups.

I know a lot more friends that lost their lives in car accidents than ATVs. And in 2 of the cases it was they fell asleep at the wheel with their seat belts on.

As for ATVs, I don't know anyone who lost their lives on ATVs, and I would say most accidents I've watched or had were carelessness on the driver part. I know thats how mine have been, mostly misjudging how the bike reacts in a certain terrain, no major wrecks just flips. I also think many riders get more powerful rides than their skill level demands. That's always an accident waiting to happen.

Good discussion though, ride smart and you'll be safe.

bash3r made a good point, buying a bike thats a little out of your league.. I saw a guy riding a raptor 350 this weekend bite the dust. His problem was he was to big for the bike and didn't have any experience riding. That makes for a deadly combination.
