What was your first ride?
I started off with the famous ET bicycle (a bike that was themed to ET the movie). It had a plastic seat and solid rubber wheels. Eventually I move to a murray and then the famous Honda 300 Fourtrax.
The 300 was a great bike, and was found on just about every farm in america. It was a 1992 model, the first day i got it put over 20 miles on it cruising around the farm and the yard. When my dad got home he gave me a good chewing, I was 12 years old and didn't realize riding around the house in the yard killed the grass. So with my first ATV came my first dirt track.
I did many things on my 300, fished, hunted, camped, and even pulled some calves. Yes thats right, I actually pulled a calf with my bike. My dad worked shiftwork for over 30 years, so I was his lookout when he was gone. I came up on a cow one day that was birthing a calf, withs its hind legs sticking out. She had been there for a while and wasn't able to get the hips pushed out. I was able to get her up to the cattle shut and had to use a pull chain on the calf. I backed the bike up and used it to put some tension on the chain. With a little pull I was able to get the calf out safely.
A lot of kids these days don't get a chance to ride ATV's, mainly because people say they are unsafe or there is no place to ride. But I was fortunate enough to have one and I enjoyed every minute of it, and I hope my kids get the same chance. So if you haven't bought an ATV, you need to make that purchase and enjoy your time with it. It will be well worth the purchase.
